The Japanese electronics company Sanyo has begun manufacturing photovoltaic cells in its Hungarian plant in Dorog. The investment into this factory has been 4.5 billion Hungarian Forints, moreover 300 new jobs have been generated.

Part of the investment (HUF 900 million) has been funded by the European Union as well as by the Hungarian government.
3.7 billion of the total investment of 4.5 billion have been spent on new technologies for manufacturing. The first Sanyo plant in Dorog was opened in 1999 and started manufacturing air-conditioners, mobile phones, and rechargeable batteries. In 2005 Sanyo moved to Dorog the manufacturing  of solar cells, this move increased - in 2007 - the number of employees to 1,350.
